Cross-country skiing: The Swedish cross-country skiing team will live here during the 2026 Winter Olympics

Unlike the last few games, next year’s Olympics in Italy will be very spread out, with competitions in several different locations.

This means that there will also be several different Olympic villages, no less than six. Several of them are, however, rather ordinary hotels, compared to the apartment-like complexes that are often customary.

“Feels important”

However, the Swedish cross-country skiing team has chosen to skip the official Olympic accommodation, instead subscribing to its own hotel in the small alpine village of Panchia – which is less than a ten-minute drive from the competition arena in Val di Fiemme.

– It feels important to be yourself. And when we are, we can have our own chef, and it’s good to be able to control it ourselves, says national team manager Anders Byström to SVT Sport, and explains the importance of being able to be alone in the hotel:

– Partly, it’s the thing about diseases: We can isolate ourselves in a completely different way. And then we can have our very own atmosphere and relax and everyone can be themselves.
