The 260 million conclusion to a sci fi series that was

The adrenaline-charged Transformers films have been conquering the big screen in live-action form since 2007. However, the sci-fi franchise is not quite as sophisticated as the Marvel Cinematic Universe. On the contrary: the mythology can be bent as desired. Anyone hoping for a film series with continuity will look in vain here.

The first three films were held together to some extent by Shia LaBeouf as the lead actor. Afterwards, Mark Wahlberg took over the reins for two parts before saying goodbye with director Michael Bay. Transformers: The Last Knight is the one last part of the Bay era. This was followed by several soft reboots.

Tonight you can watch the big Bay final on TV.

Chaotic science fiction series: Transformers starts the next attempt with Rise of the Beasts

Since Bay left the franchise, Transformers has been trying to reinvent itself. The first attempt took place in December 2018 when Bumblebee hit theaters. Set in the 1980s, the backstory of the eponymous Autobot is told, while Charlie, played by Hailee Steinfeld, acts as the main human character. However, the film was not successful enough to be continued.

This followed in June 2023 second attemptto bring a breath of fresh air into the series. Transformers: Rise of the Beasts takes us back to the 1990s and introduces us to Anthony Ramos as the new protagonist, while Autobots like Optimus Prime return. However, concrete continuation plans have not yet been determined. Instead, the franchise recently focused on another reboot.

The animated Transformers One, which was released in cinemas in September 2024, deals with the origins of the robo-aliens and tells how the later mortal enemies Optimus Prime and Megatron met on the planet Cybertron. Since the film disappointed at the box office, Transformers is once again without a roadmap for the future. Maybe the crossover with GI Joe will happen after all.
