Dinosaurs and luminous prehistoric creatures await you in this emblematic garden of France.

Only a few days left to enjoy it! Meet in the 5th arrondissement of Paris, in the paths of one of the most wonderful gardens in the capital. This is where a luminous and fantastic epic takes you 200 million years ago, to the Jardin des Plantes. The National Museum of Natural History invites its visitors to slip into the shoes of real paleontologists, during a nighttime stroll, to discover illuminated Jurassic species, some of which are animated.

With “Jurassic in the process of illumination”, visitors discover the 5 environments of the “Age of Reptiles”, characterized by the emergence of dinosaurs, flying and marine reptiles, as well as mammals and plants. flowers. The night walk begins in the Big Blue, at a depth of 300 meters where marine reptiles such as the ichthyosaur nicknamed “sea dragon” or the plesiosaur with its long graceful neck reign. We also come across Belemnites and ammonites, these marine cephalopods, or radiolarians, these microorganisms with surprising shapes. The journey continues into the abyssal depths of the ocean to encounter squid or bioluminescent jellyfish…

After this epic twenty thousand leagues under the sea, we find ourselves embarked in an Upper Jurassic lagoon, populated by corals, octopuses and crustaceans, 150 million years ago, where our current Europe is located. High perched, flying dinosaurs appear, like pterosaurs. Then place on dry land, in a wooded valley which crosses a river.

The journey ends in the Cretaceous era, 140 million years ago, in the heart of a swamp in the future France. There we come across large herds of “ostrich dinosaurs”, slaloming between turiasaurs, giant dinosaurs cousins ​​of diplodocus. The highlight of the show is that the visitor comes face to face with one of them represented in real size, some 30 meters high. Surprisingly, alongside crocodiles, turtles and other amphibians, we also discover the first mammals, fossilized specimens of which can be found in the Gallery of Paleontology and Comparative Anatomy of the Jardin des Plantes.
