Many players want to constantly improve in multiplayer and single-player games. There are numerous options for this. Guides or coaching want to give tips to interested players. A new AI assistant now wants to simplify this and even help you get better live.
What kind of AI assistant is this? The Razer company has introduced new technology. Project AVA is an AI assistant designed to help you get better at your games. Razer itself describes the project as AI gaming copilot on its official website.
The special thing about Project AVA is that the AI is supposed to help you in real time. So whether you need help with an Elden Ring boss or in the next ranked round of League of Legends, Project AVA is designed to give you live tips without you having to leave the game to open your browser.
Project AVA is intended to provide you with live guides and tips
How will Project AVA work? Project AVA not only wants to be used in multiplayer games, but also in single-player games. In competitive titles, the AI should not only provide pre-game guides, it also wants to give you tips during and after the match. According to the website, these coaching sessions should be based on player data. Websites like U.GG do a similar thing and offer you a tier list from various LoL statistics.
In single-player games you want to generate AI simulations of certain puzzles or bosses, which then show you a solution or various tips. The big selling point here is that you don’t have to leave the game to visit an external website.
Project AVA should also be able to take care of the optimal game settings for you. This is then based on your setup.
The tips, guides or analyzes should be presented to you with an overlay, a voice assistant or a chat box, depending on your preference. As a voice assistant, the AI probably works like a teammate who whispers tips to you in a Discord call. Razer showed what this could look like in its own YouTube video.
In the video you can see and hear how the AI gives tips on a boss fight in Black Myth: Wukong or advises the player to bring his team over.
Isn’t that actually cheating? That probably depends on what exactly the tips and help look like in the respective games. Programs like Porofessor are already helping League of Legends players choose the optimal build and items. Some players even pay coaches to help them improve live. This is always based on data that every player can theoretically see.
However, if the AI helped you by showing you information on the map that you missed, this could become a more difficult issue. After all, the tactical use of maps is an important part of games like League of Legends. If the AI warned you that an enemy might be coming, that would probably be unfair to the other players.
But what that ultimately looks like and to what extent Project AVA helps will have to be seen in the first betas. Anyone can currently register for the Project AVA test phase. When such a beta will take place is still unclear. AI is becoming more relevant every year.
