In NBA basketball, the Los Angeles Lakers’ home game against the Charlotte Hornets has been postponed due to wildfires raging in the Los Angeles metropolitan area.
On Wednesday night, the Los Angeles Kings playing in the NHL were supposed to host the Calgary Flames, but that match was also postponed to a later date.
The date of the postponed matches will be announced later. According to the Kings, tickets for the postponed game against Calgary are valid for the rescheduled date.
Two days of exceptional winds have created several large wildfire areas in the Los Angeles metropolitan area. The evacuation order has affected about 180,000 people and the fires have destroyed an area of about 117 square kilometers below.
The Palisades fire is already the deadliest in Los Angeles history.
On Wednesday, the star of the NBA club Los Angeles Clippers Kawhi Leonard left the team unexpectedly due to personal reasons, before the game played in Denver. Leonard bought a house in the Pacific Palisades residential area in 2021. Leonard traveled as the team’s head coach Tyronn Luen along with his family.
“We know we have a game ahead of us, but these events in Los Angeles affect a lot of people,” Lue said.
