On the third day of the so-called trial of alleged Libyan financing of the 2007 presidential campaign, the debates on the merits finally began this Thursday, January 9. In this case, Nicolas Sarkozy is accused of having “entered into a corruption pact” with Muammar Gaddafi to receive, via his relatives, funds for his campaign, in exchange for diplomatic, economic and legal compensation. During an introductory speech lasting around fifteen minutes, Nicolas Sarkozy spoke of his vision of the case and the state of mind in which he approaches these four months of hearings.
