“It’s a feeling mixed with horror”

It has been a tough start to the season for Frida Karlsson.
She has missed several races and was forced to cancel the Tour de Ski.
Now comes new information about the Swedish skiing star ahead of the skiing WC.

The 2024/25 ski season started brilliantly too Frida Karlsson. Recently back from injury concerns, she surprised everyone and won the season opener of the World Cup in Finland’s Ruka by a landslide, ahead of a certain Therese Johaug.

Karlsson’s problem

Since then, things have gone considerably worse for the Swedish skiing star, who has had to fight against injury concerns. She has had to cancel several World Cup races and was recently forced to completely decline the Tour de Ski, a competition she won two years ago.

Because of her problems, concern has grown for the big goal of the season, which is the World Ski Championships in Trondheim at the end of February. But after a much-needed Christmas break, positive news has come for Frida Karlsson.
– It has been good lately. I trained with her over Christmas. We’ve been on the treadmill a lot and she’s been very, very strong. I don’t feel any stress for her physical part, says Frida’s personal trainer Per Nilsson to the Norwegian newspaper VG.

The message for Frida

The plan is for Karlsson to return to the World Cup for the competitions in Les Rousses, France, on January 17-19. She misses competing and it hurt her to miss the Tour de Ski.
– It was a mixed feeling of horror for Frida not to go on the tour. She prefers to compete, especially when she has felt so strong during the training sessions. Then it’s tough to see the rest of the competitors competing and not get to participate myself, says Nilsson in the interview.

The skiing coach also admits that Frida does not feel so stressed before the upcoming Ski World Championships. She got a good confirmation of her high level with the premiership victory in Ruka, and the competition on the women’s side is extremely even.
– You see more and more that you have to have a perfect day to win. The skis are also very important. There are many parameters, says Per Nilsson to the newspaper.
