“Carry on my wayward son, there’ll be peace when you are done“: Every finale of the beloved fantasy series Supernatural began with this line of text from a song by the band Kansas. For 15 seasons, fans of Carry On My Wayward Son were excited about the Winchester brothers’ greatest battles until the series ended in 2020 with an extremely touching one Graduation ended. But now teases the new season 3 trailer for the action series Reacher old wounds open up and the fans don’t hold back with their feelings.

Reacher trailer touches Supernatural fans: “I thought Sam and Dean were coming soon”

The new trailer for Reacher Season 3 also features the Kansas ballad during scenes from the new episodes. Since then, Supernatural fans have been gathering in the comment columns on YouTube and X to express their emotions.

“I thought Sam and Dean were coming soon“, it says there, or “This song cannot be played without memories of a particular series“. Some are seriously or playfully angry: “How dare they?“, writes one fan. “Everyone knows this is a Supernatural song.“Another demands:”If you’re going to play Carry On My Wayward Son, you have to [Reacher] also fight against ghosts, vampires and demons“.

The vast majority simply indulge in memories that “a radiant smile” on your face, or want a crossover between Reacher and Supernatural. Whether some fans like the song selection seriously angry, remains open. As can be seen from the comments, both series share large parts of their fan base. The makers of the trailer may have been well aware of this.

In this respect, the song is perhaps best interpreted as a small gift, sing along loudly and begin another Supernatural marathon with 327 glorious episodes of pure Winchester gold.
