Azerbaijan Airlines (AZAL) has suspended all flights to Kazan, Russia, indefinitely, as of today. In the statement made by AZAL, it was stated that the flights were stopped due to flight safety. In the statement, it was stated that passengers who have tickets to the airport in question have the right to have their ticket fees refunded in full or changed free of charge.
AZAL had previously decided to stop its flights to the Russian cities of Mineralny Vody, Sochi, Volqoqrad, Ufa, Samara, Saratov, Nizhny Novgorod, Vladikavkaz, Grozny and Makhachkala. Azerbaijan stopped flights to 11 cities in Russia, including Kazan.
IT WAS SHOT IN RUSSIAN AIRSPACE
The passenger plane belonging to Azerbaijan Airlines, which took off from Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan, to the city of Grozny in Chechnya, Russia, on December 25, was shot down by Russia in Grozny airspace.
The passenger plane, directed to Kazakhstan, crashed while trying to make an emergency landing in the city of Aktau. Of the 67 people on the plane, 38 died and 29 people survived.
