Images of the Nintendo Switch 2 have been revealed on the official website of manufacturer Genki, a company well known for its numerous video game accessories. And it was on its stand at CES in Las Vegas that this company decided to throw it all out there. Moreover, it was our colleagues from Numerama who filmed these images on the Genki stand, which even gave them the release date of the next Nintendo console. Just a few days after the leaks this Christmas on the motherboard, the NVIDIA chip, the magnetic Joy-Con, the new features, the leaks continue, multiply and above all are verified. There’s not much left to discover on the hardware side for the Nintendo Switch 2 and one question is burning on our lips: but what is Nintendo doing?

It’s been barely 24 hours since CES 2025 in Las Vegas kicked off. There was the usual NVIDIA conference which presented its new graphics cards, 5000 series, but also that of Sony Group Corporation which presented a lot of things, and not just hardware and video games. We were treated to movie/TV series ads, but also an electric car. But for the past few hours, journalists and professionals have been able to wander around the show and therefore discover the new products that constructors and manufacturers have to show us for 2025 and the years to come. Nintendo is not there, but Nintendo is at the heart of all subjects… It must be said that the manufacturer has been in the middle of a huge leak for several weeks, around what is still called the Nintendo Switch 2 Nintendo has announced its release in 2025, with an announcement at the beginning of the year, but for the moment, the Japanese manufacturer remains silent. A lack of communication which leaves the field open for leaks, since presumably, the console is already ready.

On several stands at CES in Las Vegas, prop makers discreetly present the future accessories for the next Nintendo console, with the added bonus of the presence of a model of the console which, or mock up to use a term well used in our industry and according to the owners, these are molds constructed from an authentic example. Normal, the machine is supposed to be released in a few months, so third-party publishers and third-party manufacturers are already starting to sell their products. Some of them even claim to be in possession of the console, which is already distributed on the black market, since manufacturing has already started in Chinese factories. To date, I don’t think I’ve seen Nintendo get so far ahead of third-party companies and Nintendo’s silence is obviously worrying. Generally, leaks, companies don’t like that. No one in a healthy business likes to have their surprises revealed, and this is even more true at Nintendo which does not hesitate to crack down, break contracts and even change its methodologies. So why does a manufacturer as important as Genki allow itself to unveil the console before its time. According to the Numerama journalist who spoke with members of the team on the stand, Genki has no contract with Nintendo, which prevents it from being exposed to legal proceedings…

Coming back to the Genki stand, we can even see a video which presents the accessories of this Nintendo Switch 2 which confirms all the recent rumors. The console will indeed be 20/30% larger than the basic Switch, the Joy-Cons will be very magnetic, with a very good feeling of solidity, and there is even a button to remove the Joy-Con. The 2nd USB-C port at the top of the console is also confirmed, just as the famous optical connector seems intended to use the Joy-Con as a mouse. On site, Numerama even saw a Joy-Con 2 with a colored joystick, without the possibility of filming it however. On the other hand, no one yet knows the usefulness of the C button which will appear on the right Joy-Con, and it will therefore still remain a surprise for Nintendo during its official announcement.

Genki’s presentation video was therefore uploaded to its official site and the first time we go there, there is still a message asking us if you know how to keep a secret, because they don’t. Imagine the level of absolute trolling on their part towards Nintendo. Not sure if Genki will work with Nintendo again in the years to come. But Genki are not the only ones throwing everything at CES in Las Vegas, other manufacturers are also showing their product catalog with the explicit mention of Nintendo Switch 2. Will that be the official name? If Nintendo wants to mark the difference and the break with the first Switch, it is the best name to adopt and not something like Super Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch U, because we have clearly seen the harm that the Wii U has done to Nintendo when it was released in 2012…

Another point on which prop makers seem to agree is the release date of the Nintendo Switch 2, apparently scheduled for April according to them, just after the end of the fiscal year. Now that we know everything, it’s high time for Nintendo to speak up and show us the user interface and the games that will accompany this Nintendo Switch Pro XL, since that’s what it’s all about..
