The 2025 winter sales are off to a strong start, with thousands of promotions in all departments! The opportunity to treat yourself at the start of the year. Here are the high-tech offers not to be missed to get good deals.

[Mis à jour le mercredi 8 janvier 2025 à 12 h 30] The winter sales are making a comeback in the new year 2025! For four crazy weeks, from Wednesday January 8 to Tuesday February 4 inclusive, merchants will increase reductions to attract customers, liquidate their stocks and increase their turnover. For the consumer, it is an opportunity to take advantage of promotions to purchase all kinds of products at a lower cost. On condition, however, that you compare the prices carefully – between stores and with the prices displayed before the operation – and not to hang around, because the real good deals disappear very quickly from the stalls. Some online merchants do not hesitate to highlight products on their site at rock-bottom prices even though they are only available in very limited quantities.

And the least we can say is that we finds very interesting promotions by poking around a little, particularly in high-tech. Computers, smartphones, tablets, televisions, wireless headphones, connected objects, computer components and peripherals, gaming… There is something for all tastes and all budgets. And to save you from scouring the merchant sites looking for “the good deal”, we have selected interesting promotions for you, with real discounts, including on major brands like Apple, Samsung, Xiaomi, LG, Sony, Google, Lenovo, Acer, Asus and others at online retailers (Amazon, Boulanger, Cdiscount, Fnac-Darty, LDLC, Ubaldi, etc.), indicating promotional codes which add additional reductions. Feel free to browse it – and come back to it, as it is regularly updated! – to find good deals!

What are the dates for the 2025 winter sales?

In France, sales are strictly regulated by law, in particular for their dates and duration, which are set at the national level. Thus, the 2025 winter sales start this Wednesday, January 8, 2025, at 8 a.m., for four weeks – compared to six previously –, i.e. until Tuesday, February 4, 2025 at midnight in most French departments and territories.

Please note that certain departments as well as overseas territories are subject to staggered dates. Additional markdowns, which in principle correspond to the time when you can get the best deals, generally take place during the second and third week of the sales – but each merchant is free to start them whenever they wish. They should therefore take place on Wednesday 15, 22 and then 29 January.

In the Meuse, Vosges and Meurthe-et-Moselle, the sales began on Thursday January 2 and will close on Wednesday January 29 inclusive. Overseas, with the exception of Mayotte, Martinique and Guyana, whose dates are aligned with those of mainland France, the sales will be held from Saturday January 4 to Friday January 31 in Guadeloupe, from Saturday 3 May to Friday May 30 in Saint-Martin and Saint-Barthélemy, from Wednesday January 22 to Tuesday February 18 in Saint-Pierre-et-Miquelon, as well as from Saturday September 6 to October 3 in Reunion.

Some merchants offer promo codes to further reduce prices or finance future purchases. In general, sales or not, do not hesitate to consult our practical sheet on promo codes to find reduction coupons before making a purchase!

So, at Rakuten, you can benefit from a €10 reduction from €69 of purchase with the code RAKUTEN10and €20 reduction from €159 purchase with the code RAKUTEN20.

At Cdiscount, you can benefit from a €15 reduction from €129 of purchase with the code 15DES129and €25 from €299 with the code 25DES299.

As with every major commercial operation, we have selected a few offers which seem really interesting to us in view of the characteristics and prices usually charged. This selection will evolve over the days and promotions: do not hesitate to come back and consult it regularly to discover new markdowns. And don’t delay in making a decision if a product interests you, because stocks are limited and real good deals disappear very quickly!

Winter sales 2025: stricter rules to protect consumers

Obviously, all major brands have sales, sometimes associating them with “good deals”, “flash sales” and other promotions which can sow confusion. Retail sites are actively participating in this widespread clearance sale, practicing on practically all their departments, particularly in high-tech. Let us also point out that sales sometimes also apply to reconditioned products, which allows you to make great savings, as we have seen in previous editions.

However, the 2025 winter sales take place in a very specific context. First, they come after five special years, marked by the Covid pandemic which led to changes in behavior with confinements and health measures. Then, between the promotions and special operations which are now multiplying throughout the year, the sales are much less attractive than in the past. Especially since many consumers are wondering about the incentives for overconsumption and impulsive purchasing, favoring eco-responsible actions and durable goods. In addition, with concerns about the international situation, inflation which has been galloping since the start of 2022 and purchasing power which is decreasing as a result, the mood is not one of buying fever, especially after having spent on gifts Christmas… Not to mention that the shortage of electronic components which has marked these last years – even if it tends to be reduced – has seriously limited the “natural” erosion of the prices of high-tech products, which tend to stagnate when they do not increase.

It is above all the general climate which risks changing the situation in this very particular period. We feel a sort of weariness with this excess, unless it is concern about the economic situation? Still, the question will come up again during the winter sales. Some will perhaps have no desire to equip themselves before possible price increases in the coming months, while others will prefer to reserve their savings for other purposes. Especially since numerous increases have already been announced or applied in 2024, whether for fuel, transport, streaming video services, mobile phone plans or Internet subscriptions…

In addition, a small “detail” recently changed the situation. Since May 28, 2022, new regulations govern the practices of merchants, in particular for displayed prices, which must no longer refer to inflated and fictitious crossed-out prices (see our article). As consumer associations such as UFC-Que Choisir have already denounced on several occasions, certain merchants did not hesitate to raise their prices a few days or weeks before the sales by aligning them with a “list price” or a “recommended price” which is never used, so as to display an artificially greater discount. This deceptive practice is now strictly prohibited, and that’s good!

Remember that sales can only be applied to products already on sale before the operation, and not to items arriving specially for the occasion. In addition, and contrary to popular belief, sale devices benefit from the same guarantees as others. As such, they can be repaired in the event of a breakdown but also returned during the withdrawal period if they were purchased remotely, particularly on online sales sites, without having to provide any explanation (see our practical sheet on the right of withdrawal). Details that count on high-tech products…
