Here are the worst days to go on sale according

The winter sales have well and truly started. To maximize your chances of saving money, avoid doing your shopping on these specific days.

It’s been a few hours since the winter sales launched. Many French people have been waiting for this time of year to renew their wardrobe and stock up on stylish clothes at bargain prices. But if this period of good deals extends over an entire month, not all days are equal: it seems that certain periods are less advantageous than others in terms of stocks or prices – studies to support this. If you want to maximize your savings, you should therefore avoid shopping on these specific days…

It may seem counterintuitive, but the last weeks of sales – those of the second and third markdowns – are actually the least beneficial. If the reductions are more advantageous, the prices smaller; on the other hand, stocks of clothing, shoes, accessories and other fashion products are also less substantial. You may therefore not find the right shoe or clothing that suits you during these very last moments.

A study conducted by the Research Center for the Study and Observation of Living Conditions (Crédoc) also states that our chances of making savings diminish beyond the first four days of sales – i.e. January 8, 9, 10 and 11 this year. Which days to avoid to benefit from the best sale items? The rest of the month of January! But what can explain it?

The reasons are simple: seasoned fashionistas and other informed consumers are heading to the stores and e-shops of their favorite brands from the first day of this crazy month. They prepare their sales in secret, before they have even actually started: they subscribe to the labels’ newsletters, locate their items in advance and then check if they are on sale on the big day… Result: the The most popular, most stylish pieces, benefiting from the best quality-price ratio, have already all been sold out during these first four days.

If you cannot free yourself on January 8, 9, 10 and 11 – even online -, other days should be avoided during the coming month. A study conducted by Idealo in 2017 explains that if you go on sales on Thursday, the price of the items on sale may be higher than on other days of the week, in particular due to the law of supply and demand: “New markdowns are traditionally launched on Wednesdays: we can imagine that users rush to buy the models they want to be sure that their size does not run out (…) As a result “the next day, Thursday, offers may be exhausted and prices rise”, explains a specialist to our colleagues from BFM TV. This is well noted; we won’t make the mistake this year!
