French Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barrot is now warning Donald Trump to threaten the EU’s “sovereign borders” after his statement about taking over Greenland.
– It is not a question of whether the EU allows other countries in the world, regardless of who they are, to attack its sovereign borders, he said in an interview with the France Inter radio channel.
Barrot does not believe that the US would “invade” the island, but that it is back to a time of “the right of the strong”. US President-elect Donald Trump has said it is “an absolute necessity” for the US to take over the island, citing “national security and freedom around the world”.
Barrot also calls on the European Commission to be “very determined” in protecting EU member states against Elon Musk’s interference in the countries’ internal political debates. The call comes after Trump’s gun bearer, Elon Musk, has on several occasions commented on the domestic politics of countries such as Germany, where he has given his support to the far-right AFD.
