At least 13 Cuban soldiers are missing and feared dead in a fire at a weapons depot, according to information from Cuba’s Ministry of Defense.
The fire is said to have broken out in the town of Rafael Freyre, on the eastern part of the island, early on Tuesday morning. According to the Cuban authorities, several hundred people living in the area have been “protected from the explosions” and more have also been evacuated.
According to the latest report on state-controlled television, the ruling Communist Party and the army are taking all measures to investigate the fire and its causes. No independent reports from the scene are available.
