Audi still knows how to surprise. The German manufacturer had started its triptych of concept cars “Sphere” with a sporty coupé and a Roadster, he finishes it off with an oversized SUV.
His Urbansphere is a 5.51 m long, 2.01 m wide and 1.78 m high monster. For the urban side and adapted to the city, these dimensions would be almost disqualifying. Except that it is not the narrow streets of Paris or Munich that the Urbansphere is targeting, but the wide avenues of Chinese megalopolises.
Luckily, we were able to discover the juggernaut a few weeks before its formalization, so it’s a guided video tour that we offer.
Level 4 autonomy and gigantism
There are also surprises as soon as you open the doors of the concept. And for good reason, everything on board has been designed in terms of space, comfort and luxury.
To venture without these overcrowded cities, the Audi SUV has two essential assets, a cabin worthy of a small living room and level 4 autonomy.
Thus, during his long journeys, the owner of the Urbansphere will be able to transform his vehicle, at his choice, either into an extension of his work space, or into an ultra comfortable place to relax.
While Skysphere and the Gransphere are supposed to set the tone for what the future A8 will be like, the Urbansphere seems to be heading in another direction. If Audi does not exclude taking up some of its good ideas for its limousine, it nevertheless seems that this concept of electric SUV opens the way for a future Q8.
While waiting for the epilogue of this “Sphere” trilogy, it is indeed the greatest concept that Audi has ever imagined that we invite you to discover on video.
