The year promises to be full of cinema releases that will get people talking. A blockbuster remains the one we most expect to discover in a few months.
The year 2025 already promises to be full of events that movie fans won’t want to miss. Between Paddington in Peru, A complete strangerthe last Mission Impossiblethe film by Danny Boyle 28 years later or Bong Joon-Ho’s latest film Mickey 17several films already promise to make an impact in the coming months. But there is one blockbuster in particular that spectators are impatiently awaiting, and which will bring audiences back to theaters this year.
In December, James Cameron will unveil his latest feature film. This is the third installment of the franchise Avatarthe first two episodes of which each attracted crowds and won over critics and audiences for the visual and narrative spectacle they represent. The first opus remains, to this day, the biggest success of all time at the global box office, with 2.9 billion dollars in revenue generated upon its release in 2009. Unsurprisingly, the public was there for it. for the release of the second part in 2022. The latter ranked third on the podium for the biggest hits at the global box office, with $2.3 billion in revenue.
We can therefore say without much doubt that the third episode of the franchise is expected by spectators. Avatar: Fire and Ash will continue the adventure woven in the second episode. If James Cameron has still revealed little about the plot, we already know that Jake (Sam Worthington), Neytiri (Zoe Saldaña) and their family will meet a new tribe of Pandora, the people of ashes who will be the main antagonist of this episode. The director promised to further explore the depth of the characters through new cultures and creatures. David Thewlis and Michelle Yeoh notably joined the cast.
Normally, Avatar: Fire and Ash must be released in cinemas for the end of year holidays. Initially announced in 2015, the release has been postponed many times. It is now scheduled for December 19, 2025. The filmmaker reassured fans in December, announcing that filming was finished. Last February, he said he was working on the post-production of the feature film. Let’s hope that the highly anticipated science fiction blockbuster does not suffer from another postponement!
