The boy’s father received a prison sentence of more than 14 years.

The parents of the 13-year-old school shooter in Serbia have been sentenced to prison. In May of last year, a boy shot a total of 10 people at an elementary school in the Serbian capital, Belgrade. The victims were nine children and a security guard.

The boy’s father was convicted of endangering public safety and neglecting and abusing a minor. He received a prison sentence of 14 years and six months. The mother was sentenced to three years in prison for neglecting and abusing a minor.

The father had taken his son to the range for shooting practice. The person who worked at the shooting range was sentenced to one year and three months in prison.

Both the prosecutor and the convicts announced their intention to appeal the sentence.

A shooter in a psychiatric facility

The teenage shooter cannot be charged with a crime because of his young age. He has been placed in a psychiatric institution.

Just a few days after the school shooting, another mass shooting took place in Serbia, killing nine people. The 21-year-old shooter was sentenced to 20 years in prison earlier this month.

The incidents have widely shocked Serbia, where mass shootings have been rare. The country’s capital, Belgrade, saw widespread protests after the shootings.
