17-year-old Gout Gout ran a time that even competes for Olympic medals. According to Samuli Samuelsson, he is not being talked about as the new Usain Bolt for nothing.
At the beginning of December, sports media around the world were buzzing about the 16-year-old Gout About Gout. The young sprinter pushed a very hard time for his age in the 200 meters, with a time of 20.04.
Among under-18s, he is the second-fastest American World Cup medalist of all time on this trip of Erriyon Knighton (19.84) after. In the 100 meters, he clocked a wild 10.04 in an unstatistically downwind.

– Gout took 42 steps in his 100-meter run, which is Bolt’s numbers, and not many others can do that. The step length is large.
– At the start, he is raw, and doesn’t stand out much from his peers. However, he goes his separate ways in half the journey, like Bolt. He is also very handsome.
Samuelsson believes that it is precisely because of these similarities that Gout Gout is such an interesting, new character.
Finals
According to Samuelsson, it is realistic to see Gout at the 2025 World Athletics Championships in Tokyo.
In 200 meters, the Australian’s record of 20.04 is already hard currency in the semi-finals of the world championships. In the 2023 World Championships, 20.21 was required for the final, and in last summer’s Paris Olympics, a tenth slower quote.
In the Olympic final in Paris, Gout’s record time would have been enough instead of sixth.
On the junior side, Knighton, who holds the ME for young people, was fourth in the 200 meters at the Olympics at the age of 17, and the following year he won bronze at the World Championships.
Expectations are still very moderate at this point, at least for next year.
– Under no circumstances am I going to declare any place in the finals, even though the times are tough. It’s a different thing to get results in value competitions. He is still such a young person that I wouldn’t set terribly high expectations for next year, Samuelsson points out.
