There’s a new shooter on Steam that takes place in a post-apocalyptic world. Together as a team you first have to loot, then build a base and craft new weapons in order to finally run away with your team.
What kind of game is this? There are always new shooters on Steam, but a test is currently underway for a promising competitor to Escape from Tarkov and Battlefield, because Striden combines the best elements from the popular shooters.
In Striden’s new co-op game mode, you start with almost no equipment and have to loot the environment as a team to get components. Once you have collected a lot of loot, you can expand your base together with your fellow players in order to produce weapons there.
It is also important to have a station for your filters, because in the post-apocalyptic world of Striden you will repeatedly come into contact with radioactivity and therefore need filters for your mask.

Let’s go into battle
When will the fight take place? If you are well equipped, you and your team have to secure components from airdrops. There you will also meet other teams that started the game at the same time as you. You then have to fight against these other teams to secure the components, because they are the key to winning a round.
Anyone who secures the components in battle can call for evacuation from their own base. However, you haven’t won yet, because the enemy teams will also make their way to you in order to cancel your radio signal.
This will show whether you have upgraded your base well enough, because in addition to reinforced windows and doors, you can also build gun turrets to help you defend yourself.
What makes the game so special? Striden can best be described as Rust in a fast and compact round. The game takes the atmosphere of Stalker and Escape From Tarkov and mixes it with the building and crafting mechanics of survival games like Rust.
The movement and gunplay are reminiscent of titles like Battlefield and are less tactical than, for example, Escape from Tarkov. Nevertheless, like in the extraction shooter, you have to “escape” from the map at the end of a round.
The special skills of the players are also interesting. Anyone can transform into an animal with special abilities to carry out special attacks in battle.
What do we know about the release of the shooter? Striden hasn’t been released yet and doesn’t have a target release date yet. You can try out the new game mode for free on Steam until January 2, 2025.
