A teenage girl died near Pau after a bus left the road. What we know.
Dramatic Boxing Day in the South West. A teenage girl died on Thursday December 26, 2024, in a bus accident in the Pyrénées-Atlantiques. The teenager was present in a bus which made a connection between the Monein college and the Pau station, report South West And The Republic of Béarn.
The driver taken into custody
In this bus of line 521, only three passengers were on board. At midday, the driver lost control of his vehicle and fell into a ditch, along department 2 road, located between Monein and Pardies. Despite the intervention of emergency services, the 16-year-old girl could not be saved and died. The two other passengers were injured and treated, as was the driver.
At this stage, there is nothing to determine what caused this accident. The investigation begins to try to understand why the bus veered off its route. The driver, aged 55, was taken into police custody. Toxicological analyzes were carried out but, this Friday morning, the results were not yet known. The police custody of the fifty-year-old was lifted for medical incompatibility.
