2024 was a year full of good horror films and in 2025 we can expect some exciting horror stories in the cinema again. Today we are introducing you to 5 interesting representatives that are expected to appear in 2025.
In 2025, the Blumhouse horror representatives from the Conjuring franchise will of course appear again. On this list we would like to introduce you to 5 films that sound pretty promising. Coincidentally, one theme seems pretty big on the list: gothic horror.

We had Nosferatu and Return to Silent Hill on our last year’s horror list of promising films for 2024, but they haven’t been released yet, which is why we’re only briefly honoring them here.
Nosferatu is a remake from promising director Robert Eggers. It will be released in the USA on December 25th, 2024. German fans will have to wait until January 2nd, 2025.
Things are looking less confident for Return to Silent Hill. There hasn’t been any new information or trailers for the third film in the Silent Hill series for a long time. The release date of 2024 has still not been adjusted.
5. King Spawn
Expected theatrical release: 2025
The comic hero Spawn already had a movie in 1997 and they want to release a new movie with King Spawn 28 years later. The special thing is that Todd McFarlane is directing. He is the creator of Spawn and is actually a comic artist who worked on scripts for the old film and cartoon series.
Spawn is a former mercenary who ends up in Hell after his death. He then makes a pact with a demon to see his wife again. The pact was a ploy that the demon used to bring Spawn under his control. But he refuses and with his new powers he protects New York from all kinds of horrors.
That may sound like a classic superhero story at first, but Spawn is above all visually grotesque horror that definitely has potential as a film. But since you haven’t seen any pictures or videos yet, you should be skeptical about this film at first.
