Inaugurated on July 15, 1926 in the heart of the Latin Quarter of Paris, in the presence of the Sultan of Morocco, the great mosque of Paris is a masterpiece of Hispano-Moorish style which boasts multiple references. Built on the model of the el-Qaraouiyyîn mosque in Fez, the mosque is dominated by a 33-meter high minaret, itself inspired by the Zitouna mosque in Tunisia. A green oasis in the heart of the city, the patio surrounded by sculpted arcades is reminiscent of the Alhambra in Granada.
