Filming Black Swan was a nightmare for Natalie Portman

The realization of the very physical, sometimes painful scenes demanded everything from the star. According to HuffPost, Portman told Entertainment Weekly:

There were some nights where I thought I was literally going to die. It was the first time that I understood how to be can get so caught up in a role that it can kind of drag you down.

Torn toenails, calluses on her feet and a dislocated rib were some of the injuries the actress suffered while filming Black Swan. The ordeal still paid off because Portman was won Best Actress at the 2011 Academy Awards.
