While there were deaths and injuries in the protests held in Aleppo, Syria, citing allegations that the tomb of a cleric was damaged, the country’s interim government stated that the elements of the deposed regime were organizing “provocations”.
THEY LANDED IN SQUARES IN MANY CITIES
After videos about the alleged damage to the tomb of cleric Abu Abdullah Hasibi in the city of Aleppo were circulated among some social media users, some groups gathered in the squares and protested in the provinces of Hama, Homs, Latakia, Tartus and Ceble and Banyas districts.
THERE ARE DEAD AND WOUNDED PEOPLE
While the communities chanted slogans such as “Aleviyya” and “Ya Ali Ya Ali” during the protests, there were deaths and injuries on both sides in the clashes that broke out between the activists and security forces in Homs and Tartus.
A CURFEW HAS BEEN DECLARED
According to the Syrian News Agency (SANA), a curfew was declared between 18.00 and 08.00 in Homs.
For the last 3 days, the security forces affiliated with the interim government have accelerated their search and screening efforts in some cities, especially in Latakia and Tartus provinces, regarding officials of the overthrown regime who committed war crimes in Syria.
STATEMENT FROM THE MINISTRY: VIDEOS ARE OLD
In the statement made by the Media Office of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the interim government, “Videos showing the raid and attack on the tomb of Sheikh Abu Abdullah al-Husaybi, one of the religious shrines of a sect in Aleppo province, were circulated on some social media accounts. These videos were presented as if they had happened recently. The videos circulated are an old video from the period when the city of Aleppo was liberated by unknown groups, showing that we are working day and night to protect the properties of our institutions and religious sites, and this “We state that the purpose of rebroadcasting such videos is to sow discord among the Syrian people during this sensitive period that Syria is going through.” expressions were used.
“THE OVERPLACED REGIME CARRIED OUT ATTACKS”
In the statement, it was noted that some elements of the deposed regime in the coastal regions of Syria took advantage of the events and carried out armed attacks by the security forces, resulting in deaths among the security forces.
