Passenger plane crashes in Kazakhstan 28 people reportedly survived

Kazakhstan’s Emergencies Ministry believes at least 42 people died in the accident. According to the Azerbaijan Airlines company, the accident was caused by the collision of the plane with a flock of birds.

A passenger plane crashed in Kazakhstan, the Russian news agencies Tass and Interfax say.

According to Kazakh emergency officials, the plane, which was on its way from Baku, Azerbaijan, to the Russian city of Grozny, crashed in the Aqtaw region of southwestern Kazakhstan.

At least 74 people were on board the plane, news agencies initially reported. Later, the news agencies specified that there were 62 passengers and five crew members on board the plane.

According to the authorities, 28 people survived the accident. 22 of them were taken to hospital from the scene of the accident.

According to Chechnya’s airport, the flight on its way to Grozny was diverted to Makhachkala in southern Russia due to fog.
