Table tennis: The mental game behind Truls Möregårdh’s Olympic success: “I wasn’t ready at all”

Truls Möregårdh had a nightmare draw in the Olympics. In the second round of the singles tournament, he faced world number one Wang Chuqin of China, against whom he was 0–8 in head-to-head meetings. But the Swede made a fantastic effort and won 4–2 in the set.

– I had to cry with mum and dad for a short while after the match and try to understand what happened. And then there was a match in the evening, so it was just a matter of focusing again, says Möregårdh.
