The decision was made by the Russian Ministry of Justice during the summer. 55 indigenous organizations, which work for human rights, were put on the list of terrorists and extremists. They are now labeled in the same way as, among others, al-Qaeda and armed Nazi movements.
It has caused fear to grow among the Sami and other indigenous peoples of Russia. This news had not reached Sweden when SVT Sápmi picked it up in August.
