The list of unwanted operators grew by 65 operators this year.
Russia has added a record number of actors to its list of unwanted actors this year. Those reporting on the matter Kyiv Independent and of the Moscow Times according to independent Russian media Fresh says that the list grew by 65 operators this year.
The Act on Unwanted Operators has existed since 2015. It has been used by the President of Russia Vladimir Putin to restrict the activities of targets perceived as opponents, such as non-governmental organizations, independent media and human rights groups.
The Moscow Times is also on Russia’s list of undesirable actors. A magazine publishing news in Russian and English was added to the list in July.
