Just in time for Christmas, players manage to bring back the worst plague

World of Warcraft’s worst incident is back. The Corrupted Blood rages once again, ruining entire cities.

In the 20-year history of World of Warcraft, there have been some incidents that are now considered legendary among players. This includes special events and happenings, but also strange bugs with interesting consequences. The most devastating event was probably the “Corrupted Blood” incident, which paralyzed entire cities and realms.

Some people were now able to create this again – and almost completely shut down a realm.

What kind of incident is this? We are talking about “Corrupted Blood”. This is a debuff that is available from “Hakkar” from the raid “Zul’Gurub”. The debuff deals damage every few seconds and spreads to all nearby targets.

Actually, the debuff was only supposed to appear within the raid – but back then, hunters managed to take the negative effect “outside” via their animals. This meant the effect could spread to NPCs and other characters.

The result: entire realms seemed to be deserted for several days. Players everywhere were infected. The plague was passed from one character to the next, and some made fun of spreading the effect further and further.

In fact, the incident became so large that scientists later used the data to create pandemic models that were used during the Corona years.

Now the incident has been repeated again – on the realms of the “Season of Discovery”.

What realm did this happen on? The Living Flame (EU) realm has once again been afflicted by Corrupted Blood. There are some videos circulating from last night in which you can see the city of Stormwind. You can hear the “bursting” of blood effects everywhere, while NPCs and player characters repeatedly flash red, take damage and pass the effect on to those around them.

Even if the chaos doesn’t reach the same intensity as many years ago, it still brought a tear of nostalgia to many a fan. Because seeing Stormwind in such an extinct state has not been possible for a long time.

An actually dark chapter of World of Warcraft, which is, however, associated with a lot of nostalgia and was able to celebrate a revival – or the exact opposite of it – for at least a few hours. Well then Merry Christmas and here’s to many more nostalgic experiences.
Many people are currently playing WoW Classic on the “Fresh” realms – and are actively taking action against bots.
