Mythic+ becomes much more enjoyable in World of Warcraft. Because the most annoying affix is thrown out and replaced.
World of Warcraft is constantly changing the design of the “Mythic+” dungeons. The affixes in particular are often a cause for frustration. Because while some affixes are quite easy to play and hardly cause any problems, other affixes cause difficulties and annoying overlaps that make them a game of chance.
Season 2 of The War Within retains the affixes from the first season – with just one major change. Because one of the affixes is thrown out and replaced.
There is currently a lot to experience on Siren Island in WoW:
Which affix is being replaced? We’re talking about “Xal’atath’s Trade: Forgotten”. With this affix, black balls appear at regular intervals around the current battle site and slowly float towards enemies. If the bullets reach the enemies, all enemies receive a stackable buff. However, if the balls are picked up by the player characters, the group receives a buff.
However, the affix had several problems. On the one hand, the balls often go through natural restrictions such as walls or rocks, and on the other hand, there are situations in which players simply cannot or are not allowed to move in order to survive the mechanics of the boss fights. In this case the choice remains between: “Do we die because we ignore the boss mechanics or do we die because the bullets reach the boss?”
This was frustrating and meant that many people simply didn’t play or played less during the weeks with “Xal’atath’s Trade: Forgotten”.
What’s new for this? The whole thing will be replaced in patch 11.1 with the new affix “Xal’atath’s Trade: Pulsar”. Even if the exact way it is played is not yet clear, the effect reads much more simply:
Xal’ataths summons void pulsars that orbit player characters. After 15 seconds, the pulsars unleash their energy, granting enemies the Gift of Xal’atah effect, increasing damage dealt by 10% and reducing damage taken by 20%. This effect stacks.
Player characters that come into contact with the Void Pulsar empower the characters, granting them 4% Mastery and 2% Lifesteal for 30 seconds. This effect stacks.
In plain language this means: In the future, all characters will be surrounded by balls that other characters in the group have to collect. Through clever positioning, the balls then fly into an ally “on their own” and thus provide a buff.
The concern is that the pulsars will also provide some amusing moments, such as two players trying to collect each other’s respective pulsars – but that should still be a lot easier to manage than the current “forget” affix.
What do you think of this change? A good idea to retire the old affix for Season 2 of The War Within? Or did you think “forgetting” wasn’t so bad and would have liked to continue playing with the effect?
You can currently also earn lots of cool items on Siren Island.
