American journalist who disappeared in Syria Austin Tice is said to be alive.
This was reported on Tuesday by news agency AFP, referring to information from a non-governmental organization.
The American organization Hostage Aid Worldwide said on Tuesday that it believes Tice is still alive.
The organization did not say why it believed Tice was alive, nor did it say where the reporter might be.
Tice is believed to have become a dictator Bashar al-Assad imprisoned for more than ten years.
Tice, a former Marine officer, was reporting on the Syrian civil war in August 2012 when he was kidnapped near Damascus in Darayya.
In December, after the fall of the al-Assad regime, the US administration asked Turkey and other countries for help in finding Tice.
Tice is one of the longest-serving American hostages in history.
