Alvar Myhlback has long been singled out as a super talent.
But so far the season has been tough for the 18-year-old skiing promise.
Now the SVT duo Jacob Hård and Anders Blomquist give their verdict.
For several years, expectations have been really high Alvar Myhlback. He has been described as the future of Swedish skiing on the men’s side and this winter has been given the chance at the World Cup.
Tough for Myhlback
The 18-year-old raised expectations even more after the successful season last year when he came third at the Vasaloppet and won double JVM gold. But this start of the season has been tough for Myhlback.

First he wasn’t even selected for the World Cup premiere in Ruka, Finland, then things got really tough and far down the results list in Lillehammer, Norway. Then Alvar was selected for the World Cup weekend in Davos and had to go to the Scandinavian Cup instead.
The SVT duo about Alvar
Alvar Myhlback is betting on going to the very first World Ski Championships of his life in Trondheim in 2025. But recently it was announced that he will unfortunately not get a place in the Swedish team until Tour de Ski.

It has long been a discussion whether Myhlback should compete in cross-country skiing at the World Cup or in low races at the Ski Classics. He himself likes to switch between both, but now gives the seasoned SVT duo Anders Blomquist and Jacob Hard his verdict on the teenager.
– I like that he combines and that he wants to combine himself and believes that he can do it. I like it, says Hård in a question and answer session with SVT viewers.
– For me, the answer is very simple. If you want to become the world’s best skier, regardless of whether it is traditional or in Ski Classics, it is necessary that the whole body, heart and brain really love, long, want and are prepared to do all the hard work required for it. So for me the easy answer is, feel what you want to do and do it. Then it will be good, says Blomquist in “Vinterstudion”.
