11 dead dolphins have been found in the area in about a week, reports a Russian news agency Ria Novosti. In addition, the volunteers have found 143 dead birds.
Two Russian oil tankers were damaged in bad weather in the Kerch Strait on December 15. Tankers was on board a total of approximately 9,000 tons of fuel oil.
According to the authorities, more than 3,000 tons of oil got into the water.
According to the environmental organization Greenpeace, more than 60 kilometers of the coastline of the Krasnodar region has been polluted. Oil has spread over an area of more than 65 square kilometers.
Thousands of people have participated in cleaning the beaches in recent days.
