Pope Francis has condemned an Israeli airstrike that killed several children in Gaza.
The leader of the Catholic Church commented on Israel’s actions on Saturday. Civil protection authorities in Gaza had said earlier that Israel had killed seven children from one family in its airstrike on Friday.
According to the Pope, the attack is about cruelty, not war.
After the Pope’s statement, the Israeli Foreign Ministry accused the Pope of double standards.
A special UN committee investigating Israel’s actions said in November that Israel’s methods of warfare in Gaza meet the hallmarks of genocide.
