Biathlon: Sebastian Samuelsson shot away in the pursuit start – missed the podium

It was great conditions when Sebastian Samuelsson and the other riders took the course.

The Swede went out in third place at the start of the hunt – but a failure in the prone shooting and a total of four in standing, meant that he ended up far behind the lead.

The 27-year-old finished in fifth place, 1.03 minutes behind the supreme winner Johannes Thingnes Bö.

– The result is good, a fifth place is not bad. I would have liked the performance to have been better, above all in the standing shooting, says Samuelsson to SVT Sport.

– That little last thing is missing, for it to be completely correct.

Second was home rider Éric Perrot and his compatriot Émilien Jacquelin finished third.

Ponsiluoma second best

The second best Swede was Martin Ponsiluoma, who finished in 19th place. He had an impressive ride time, fastest of all today, and made for a matchless climb.

– It was very positive. It means a lot, says Ponsiluoma.
