At least 32 people have died in the accident.
At least 32 people were killed in a bus crash in Brazil’s southeastern state of Minas Gerais on Saturday, officials said.
Information about the cause of the accident was still conflicting on Saturday. According to initial information from the rescue authorities, the tire of the bus would have exploded, which would have caused the driver to lose control of the car. This would have resulted in a chain crash. Later, however, it was reported that the bus had been hit by a boulder thrown by a rock avalanche, after which the bus would have hit a truck and caught fire.
The number of victims may still rise from what was reported on Saturday. The bus caught fire and was wrecked so badly that a crane had to be brought in to get all the victims out of the wreckage. Twelve people survived the crash.
