Two passenger cars have collided head-on on Lansväg 214, according to the emergency services.

– The extent of the damage is unclear, but we have been there for about an hour. The alarm came in at 12:35, says Johan Koivisto, officer on duty at Eskilstuna’s rescue service.

The road has been closed, but the emergency services are now winding down their efforts at the scene.

Five dead after the attack Germany

Another person has died after a car drove into a Christmas market in Magdeburg, Germany, the BBC reports.

Right now, a press conference is being held where German Chancellor Olaf Scholz talks together with Reiner Haseloff, Minister President of Saxony-Anhalt.

A total of five people have died since the attack. Over 200 people were injured.

Several dead in bus accident in Iran

At least ten people have been confirmed dead in a bus accident in Iran. The bus ran off the road and fell into a ravine, Iranian state media reports.

The accident occurred in the western province of Lorestan.

– Rescue workers have been sent to the area, says Mohammed Ghadami, provincial director of the International Federation of the Red Cross and Red Crescent (IFRC).

The cause of the accident is not known.

Three suspects arrested for rape in Stockholm

Three men have been arrested on suspicion of rape in Stockholm, the police write.

The rape must have been discovered in connection with the police being on the scene in another matter.

According to information to Aftonbladet, the police had been called there after a person saw someone with a weapon.

When the police arrive at the residence, it appears that a woman has allegedly been raped at gunpoint.

According to information, it is an air pistol.

The police write that two other men “facilitated the perpetrator to carry out the rape.”

One person has been arrested on suspicion of aggravated rape and two people for aiding and abetting aggravated rape. They are all three between 25 and 35 years old.

The police will carry out a technical examination of the crime scene to secure evidence.

Security guard hit in the head

During the night, a fight took place in Helsingborg with several people involved. A 25-year-old man had been beaten.

In connection with the orderly helping the man, one of them was hit in the head, which caused the police to draw up a report of violence against an official.

According to the police, five unknown perpetrators are said to have participated in the assault, but no one has been arrested.

SMHI has issued more yellow warnings for Sunday.

And in Värmland it applies from 18.00 tonight to 02.00 tomorrow.

SMHI calls for caution on the roads and flags the risk of delays or canceled departures in public transport.

Men arrested at the Armed Forces area

Two men jumped over a fence and came across the Armed Forces area in Karlskrona on Saturday morning.

The men, who are both in their 20s, were arrested by security guards on suspicion of violating the Protection Act.

According to the police, both men are suspected of having been under the influence of alcohol and drugs.

Four dead after the attack in Germany

Four people have died and 41 are seriously injured after yesterday’s attack in Magdeburg in Germany, the police told Bild newspaper.

According to the newspaper information, however, more are injured. They write that there are 86 injured in hospital.

SMHI warns of snow and icy conditions

Residents in Svealand who are going out in traffic on Saturday do best to take it carefully, according to SMHI, which has two yellow warnings out.

In Northeast Svealand, snowfall is expected in the morning, which may cause longer travel times.

“It can be difficult to get around in traffic due to snow on the roads, traffic accidents or stationary vehicles, writes SMHI.

For parts of Svealand there is a warning issued for sudden ice slippage:

“Drive carefully and adjust your speed to the road conditions. Allow more time for your trip.”

US avoids shutdown – budget hammered

The US House of Representatives has agreed on a temporary budget settlement and the risk of a shutdown of the state apparatus this Christmas is thereby removed.

The resolution was fast-tracked by the Senate, after the midnight deadline expired by more than half an hour.

Donald Trump, who will take office as US president in a month’s time, stopped the negotiated settlement with the opposition party Democrats on Wednesday. He demanded, cheered on by tech billionaire Elon Musk, that party mates renegotiate the budget.

The now hammered proposal, put forward by Republican Speaker Mike Johnson, however, drops Trump’s sudden demand to scrap or raise the US debt ceiling.

It was the third attempt by Johnson to persuade the most staunch Trump loyalists to pass the budget, raising questions about whether he will be able to work with Trump and keep his job.

Afterward, Johnson claims that Trump understood “exactly what we did and why.”

– I think he was really happy about the result as well, says Johnson.

The current session of the United States Congress is in its finale. The next biennial meeting opens on January 3, and on the same day the election of the Speaker, a seat that until now was considered important for Johnson, will be held.

Reuters: Saudi Arabia warned about the perpetrator

The suspected perpetrator of yesterday’s crime in Magdeburg came from Saudi Arabia to Germany in 2006.

The arrested man, a 50-year-old psychiatrist, has shared extreme views on his social media account. But the police have not yet clarified the motive behind the crime.

But now a Saudi source states for Reuters that Saudi Arabia had warned German authorities about the perpetrator before the attack. But it is not clear when or for what the warning covered.

Saudi Arabia’s foreign ministry has condemned the attack.
