The City of Brantford, in partnership with Wilfrid Laurier University, will screen the films from January to March.
The series allows residents to “come together to share, reflect and celebrate diverse cultures, languages and cinematic art,” said Christina Han, associate professor of history and director of the Hub for Community Solutions at Laurier, in a media release.
“The film series has generated a steady following of Brantford residents and local students coming out to each screening, which really highlights the community’s interest in sharing different cultural perspectives through cinematic arts,” said Han.
Each film in the series represents a different culture and will include an introduction and discussion prior to the screening.

“Through discussions and the content of the films, this series highlights different political, social, historical and artistic views of the world,” said Taylor Berzins, community initiatives coordinator for the City of Brantford. “It’s very encouraging that there has been so much support for this initiative and that we’re able to host a third season of the series.”
Since its launch in 2023, more than 400 people have attended the series to watch films representing 13 countries.
The project supports the goals of the Brantford Immigration Partnership and Inclusive Community Plan by providing opportunities for Brantford residents to engage in cultural experiences and celebrate diverse stories and perspectives, said Berzins.
