Precipitation will occur overnight into Saturday

If you are going out in traffic on Saturday morning, you may encounter precipitation in the form of rain and snow.

– During the night, a precipitation area comes in from the west over Götaland and Svealand. Then this will move east quite quickly during the night and tomorrow morning. We see here over Svealand that there will be a mixture between rain in southern Svealand and snow over the northern part, says Brännström.

He points out that there is a risk of ice slipping over southern Svealand.

– The traffic weather is a bit messy because there is a yellow warning issued by SMHI for snow slippage here in Svealand and ice slippage in southern Svealand in connection with this passing, he says.

Keep this in mind if you’re traveling on a Saturday night

The stormy weather continues on Saturday and moves even further north.

– We have a new area of precipitation that will come in later in the afternoon and Saturday evening and it will move a little further north. It will fall mostly as rain over Götaland and Svealand. Then you still have cold roads, so there is a risk that if you go on Saturday night, you will once again have a risk of ice in large parts of Svealand as the temperatures rise, he says.

The forecast for Sunday

If you’re traveling north on Sunday, expect white snow-covered landscapes. During the night to Sunday, the precipitation will change to snow and move in over southern Norrland. During the day, it will also be moved up to Västerbotten.

– Later on Sunday it moves up towards southern Norrbotten and slows down and stops. It looks like there could be a lot of snow here and at the same time also along the Norrland coast, the High coast up to the southern Västerbotten coast, so it is in connection with a partly fresh easterly wind, he says and continues:

– If you are traveling and going to the mountains, you have to keep this in mind. I can say that it is both icy and snowy during Saturday and Sunday in large parts of the country except Götaland. It is noisy traffic weather when many people are going out to travel.
