With the overthrow of the Bashar Assad regime in Syria, the interim government began working to improve the living conditions of the country’s citizens. However, due to problems in the fuel distribution sector, fuel cannot be found at petrol stations.
GASOLINE AND BANANA ON THE SAME COUNTERTOP
As such, many people sell gasoline on the roadside due to frequent gasoline shortages.
GASOLINE HAS BEEN ON THE BLACK MARKET
In the country, where the current sales price of 1 liter of gasoline is 15 thousand Syrian liras, 1 liter of gasoline is sold at roadside vendors at prices ranging from 17 thousand to 20 thousand Syrian liras.
Some vendors sell both gasoline and vegetables and fruits at the same stall on the side of the road.
“ASAD DESTROYED US AND HE WAS GONE”
A taxi driver named Hassan Muhammed, who came to buy gasoline from a street vendor, said in his statement: “Unfortunately, there is no fuel at oil stations, so we buy gasoline from here. We have nothing to do. “Assad destroyed us and left,” he said.
