All episodes of 7 vs. Wild and the bonus series “Behind the Scenes” are now online. In the final episode of the bonus series, a mystery is clarified that many believed was a conspiracy.
What kind of conspiracy was this? 7 vs. Wild also features contestants who usually smoke. So that they don’t go completely empty-handed, candidates like Jens “Knossi” Knossalla have had a few cigarettes in recent seasons.
There were supposed to be some in season 4 of 7 vs. Wild, but the participants didn’t find the butts left on the plane, even though they looked around there several times. Over time, many theories surrounding cigarettes emerged.
The most prominent theory was that another participant had hidden or even destroyed the glow sticks in order to get one over on the villain of the season, Stefan from Survival_Deutschland. However, in the very last chapter of 7 vs. Wild Crashed, the truth came to light.
One of the participants in 7 vs. Wild was Knossi, you can find out more about him here:
A culprit that no one expected
What happened to the cigarettes? In the last episode of the “Behind the Scenes” format on YouTube, Fritz Meinecke, followed by two cameramen, looks at the participants’ rest area. He also inspects the dismantled aircraft, which initially served as a storage place for the participants.
At this point, Fritz Meinecke was already aware that, according to his own statements and the relay recordings, the participants had not found the cigarettes. In the video on YouTube, he made his way into the cockpit and actually found the cigarettes in exactly the same place where the organization team had previously placed them.
You can see the full video here, the scene with the cigarettes starts at 31:30.
The participants had probably overlooked the cigarettes at first, but the condition of the cigarettes raised questions. After 14 days they were completely destroyed, as if rodents had eaten them. Fritz Meinecke says in the video:
“Look what we have here. Cigarettes, however, and this is very exciting: They were completely torn apart and I would almost say that they were mice or rodents. […] You can really see the traces of corrosion on the cigarette pack here.”
How do viewers react to the denouement? Viewers are somewhat disappointed with the outcome of the potential conspiracy. On Reddit, vickypeediaa writes: “I hoped until the end that it was a conspiracy after all.”
The user Critical_Top6245 actually suspected Sandra (via Reddit): “I actually thought Sandra didn’t have her addiction under control. Interesting that there are mice in the middle of the camp and no one notices anything.”
Aluniah answers this on Reddit: “I think Joe once showed that the mice can also get through the backpack with the Schmackos [Anmerkung der Redaktion: Tierfutter, dass die Teilnehmer gefunden hatten] had eaten.”
The fact that they wanted to wipe out the villain of the season was also one of the many theories surrounding the cigarettes. The argument with Stefan started less than 24 hours after arrival. So there’s enough time to hide the butts.
