The moves made by Syria’s deposed president, Bashar Assad, as the opposition continued to advance, began to come to light. However, upon the call from Russian officials to ‘leave Damascus’, Assad flew to Russia’s Hmeymim Base in Western Syria and from there to Moscow. The news stated that “Assad was on his way back from Moscow to Damascus on the day the opposition forces captured Aleppo on Friday, November 29.” Assad, who returned to Damascus, was accompanied by Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani and UAE President Sheikh Mohammed bin It was stated that he contacted Zayed. According to the report, Assad requested “military support from Iran-backed militias in Iraq and financial assistance from the UAE.”

Assad broke his silence and made a statement on Monday.
