In Path of Exile 2 you have limited chest space – and it fills up pretty quickly, especially in the end game. A workbench helps you save space and upgrade items at the same time.

As soon as you have reached the end game of Path fo Exile 2, you collect so-called waystones. The stones are essential for the end game because they are used to explore the card system. The higher the level of the waystone, the better rewards you get. However, the stones cannot be stacked and will eventually take up entire chest compartments.

With a workbench you have the opportunity to combine and improve the stones. In addition, the special workbench is not only suitable for reforging the waystones – but also for other items.

Combine 3 items, get 1 new one

What kind of workbench is this? In Path of Exile 2 you unlock the “Reforging Workbench” as the story progresses in Act 3. There you then have the opportunity to forge three items into a new item. However, you can’t see beforehand what will come out of your forging attempts.

There you can easily reforge the waystones that you no longer need. This not only saves you space in your chest, but also gives you waystones of a higher level.

This is how you forge waystones: To reforge waystones, you need 3 stones of the same level. In a video from the streamer and content creator DatModz on X you can see that you can also combine normal stones with magical stones.

If you have accumulated a lot of Waystones of different levels but actually need higher ones, you can upgrade them to get exactly the ones you need. You can also reforge waystones that you received from the reforging workbench. However, if you are missing low-level waystones, you can get them from the NPC Doryani for gold.

What else can I reforge? In addition to the waystones, you also have the opportunity to reforge other items – such as runes, rings or other pieces of equipment. However, it is important that it is an item of the same type. Just pay attention to the name of the item here.

You should note this:

  • If you have collected 3 ruby ​​rings, you can forge them into a new ruby ​​ring.
  • However, 3 runes become a rune of a different type.
  • You cannot undo the reforging process.
  • The 3 items will also be destroyed – but you will receive a new one.
