Palworld will get a new update in a few days. In addition to a new island, a new mode has now been announced.
What kind of mode is this? The new mode for Palworld will be a hardcore mode, as the official Palworld-X account has announced. Hardcore modes usually mean more powerful enemies, more difficult survival conditions, or additional challenges.
In a separate post on X.com, Global Community Manager Bucky from developer Pocket Pair goes into more detail about this. He specifies that there should be two hardcore switches: one for permanent player death and one for permanent pal death.
So you can choose how hardcore you want your run in Palworld to be. You can read what else awaits you in the update in this news. You can get a first impression with the trailer:
New island, new mode – everything for Christmas
What else does the update bring? The new Feybreak update was announced at the Game Awards in Los Angeles and brings a whole lot of new things to the game. Here is a selection:
In an article about the update, Gamerant also suggests that there could be a new (opposing) faction. They also suspect that Palworld could finally get a story with the update, almost a year after it went into Early Access. Neither is guaranteed.
Further new content is not yet known at the time of this news.
How will the new update be implemented? Feybreak is announced for December 23, 2024 – one day before Christmas Eve. The update is completely free.
Anyone who is currently playing Palworld doesn’t have to worry that the new content will affect the score. When asked about this, the Global Community Manager replied that the new island would simply appear in the world of the current game (via X.com).
Bucky also confirms on
When the game was originally released in early 2024, the developer announced that they would be developing Palworld in Early Access for about a year. Since the game will be playable for exactly 11 months on December 19th, the release plans seem to have been pushed back a bit.
The new update for Palworld will bring some wind under the game’s wings after things have been rather quiet recently – apart from Nintendo’s lawsuit against the developer. Another game, however, is currently trying to recover from a failed content update: Free2Play alternative to Monster Hunter publishes plans to save the game after a catastrophic update
