During the afternoon, the police tried to stop a truck that was driving erratically and without a registration plate outside Fagersta.
When the truck refused to stop, a pursuit began, in an attempt to stop the police, the truck driver dumped a container that blocked the police.
– Our view is that it is done deliberately to stop the pursuit, says Pelle Vamstad, press spokesperson at the police.
The police were called out just after 4pm to check the truck. When the driver saw the blue lights, he continued driving and chose to turn onto a smaller road. A container was dumped there, which turned out to be stolen, and the police’s path was blocked.
The truck stopped a short time later and two people fled the vehicle.
– There were already several vehicles on the way, so we could still continue the pursuit quite directly, says Pelle Vamstad.
A major search operation was launched and after an hour the police found two men who were detained and checked before being released again. The incident is being investigated as blue light sabotage, theft and minor drug offences.
