The Swedish national team management is going to take action to break the cycle of illness.
This season’s cross-country skiing world cup has only been held for three race weekends, but no less than ten of the Swedish national team skiers have already had to miss the races, primarily due to illness. Now the national team leadership is going to take action to break the cycle.
– The routines must be tightened even more, national team coach Anders Byström says Expressenfor the magazine.
– We have stuck to them, used masks, washed our hands and stayed away from the sick. But it’s clear that that hasn’t been enough, Byström, who has also been caught by the flu this season, continued.
According to him, the second cup event of the season in Lillehammer caused an illness crisis. The Swedes stayed in Lillehammer in the same hotel as the other teams.
– Nothing can be done about that, but in the future you have to be careful with accommodation. We stay as isolated as possible to avoid diseases.
In the World Cup, the Tour de Ski tour in Italy will be contested next. It starts soon after the Christmas holidays.
