Jason Statham is always possible, but this time we have one of his most unusual films as a TV recommendation for you. The film Wild Card doesn’t skimp on action, but it devotes a lot of its time to characterization and does an excellent job with it.

Wild Card does a lot of things very differently than most other Jason Statham films. Anyone hoping for non-stop action will be a bit disappointed here. This time the dreary drama revolves around the washed-up man The focus is on ex-gambling addicts and their problems. It’s obviously good for actor Jason Statham to be able to put a little more heart and feeling into his role.
But that doesn’t mean that things don’t get serious in Wild Card. Quite the opposite: the film only has three big action scenes that are really tough. They flicker across the screen so elaborately staged and even better choreographed that it is a real joy. As a big bonus, there is also a really great soundtrack.
