In two different research projects, nutritionist Emily Sonestedt has studied the eating habits of large experimental groups and over time has been able to see which foods lead to disease and premature death.
In one, the researchers looked at sugar intake and concluded that sugary soft drinks are the worst health option.
– It’s easy to drink way too much, you don’t get full, says Emily Sonestedt.
The second study examined how ultra-processed food can increase the risk of early death.
What should be avoided at the Christmas table?
Both ultra-processed food and sweets are highly relevant at Christmas time, and there are some common Christmas delicacies that research indicates should be eaten in moderation.
– Many of the foods we eat a lot during Christmas are ultra-processed such as sausages, Christmas must and sweets. Even if it is a limited time, it can be good to think about, says Emily Sonestedt.
Why can it be dangerous to eat prince sausage? Emily Sonestedt explains what it can lead to in the clip above.
