Queen Silvia turns 81 on December 23, and just like earlier this year, she is traditionally wooed with cake and song in the morning, and in the evening the royal family usually celebrates with Champagne and a good dinner, Aftonbladet has reported.

According to Swedish Lady so the king has another charming tradition that keeps the excitement alive. Every year he arranges a surprise party for Silvia. A very funny detail about the parties is that they are always held in different rooms at Drottningholm Palace. There are almost 200 rooms in the castle, so the king has a few rooms to choose from. There a lovely dinner is laid out, and the king is the general of the party.

She usually receives her birthday present from her husband in the morning, and over the years she has received very fancy gifts from the king. In 2004, Aftonbladet reported what Silvia received as a birthday present – namely an antique scent box in real silver from the store Jan Ribbhagen which was then located on Birger Jarlsgatan. The king paid around 6,000 kroner for the scent box.

– The Queen is crazy about cute little antiques so the gift will be extremely appreciated, a source revealed to the newspaper at the time.
The king is really good at presents, and has previously bought a Cartier Love Bracelet for his Silvia, has Happened reported.
Princess Madeleine also has a Love Bracelet – which she received as a gift from Chris O’Neill.

The Queen has also received really sweet gifts from her grandchildren, in the form of pearl bracelets with the text “grandmother” which Swedish Lady rewritten.
