It wasn’t Aladdin who came to visit, but a flying carpet nonetheless.

A strong storm meant that Henrik Karmberg in Rödeby suddenly received an unexpected visit – from a huge trampoline that flew hundreds of meters onto his balcony.

– The sick thing is that it got over hedges and cherry trees, it must have flown very high, says Henrik Karmberg.

During the night’s storm he heard the windows of the house shaking, and outside the trees of the garden swaying in the wind. Nevertheless, Henrik Karmberg, 50, managed to get a good night’s sleep.

In the morning he went to work as usual, but soon received a call from his daughter.

“What is this?” she shouted into the receiver.

Had stuck

Henrik made it home again, and there he got a shock. On the porch behind the house lay a huge scraper spread across the wooden deck – a big black trampoline, something BLT was the first to tell about.

– It has flown in the air and landed exactly on the balcony. Then it got wedged there with the railing around it, says Henrik.

He estimates that the trampoline is about five meters in diameter, and barely fits just inside the railing.

– It hit the right spot – but wrong, you could say.

“Probably needs an angle grinder and stuff”

At first he tried to pull the trampoline from the balcony, but soon discovered that it was more difficult than he thought.

– An angle grinder and other things are probably needed to remove it, he says.

As far as Henrik knows, no next door neighbor has a trampoline, so he posted a want for the owner in the local Facebook group. There was no one who was nabbing.

The owner was found 200 meters away

Then he instead started calling around to neighbors in the residential area, and finally he got hold of a woman who had a clue.

– She said that she looked out of her window and noticed that her neighbor’s trampoline was gone. So then I finally found the man who owns it.

The man lives about 200 meters from Henrik, which leaves him puzzled. On the lots between the houses there are lots of obstacles that should have stopped the trampoline on the way, says Henrik.

– The sick thing is that it got over hedges, cherry trees and everything possible. So, it must have flown very high.

Have jumped clear

When Henrik caught hold of the trampoline owner, he was just as surprised as Henrik. He had wondered where it was. Then he made Henrik a generous offer.

– He first asked if I wanted to keep it. But I said ‘Thanks, that’s good’. It’s a done deal for me.

Then the man apologized several times.

Glad it didn’t damage the house – yet

Now they have agreed that the man will come and collect the trampoline next weekend.

– Yes, but I say good luck. I hope we can remove it without destroying the entire balcony.

The trampoline didn’t cause any damage to Henrik’s house, and after the incident he mostly thinks the whole thing is a funny thing.

– This is just something you heard about, but didn’t think would happen, says Henrik.
